Headline
o   expresses the main idea of the story
o   uses direct and dramatic action verbs and nouns
o   captures the audience’s attention
                                       
Supporting Details
o   clearly written
o   all details relate to the topic

5 W’s :Who, What, Where, When and How
o   who: all 3 important characters are included
o   what: the conflict is presented and include specific details
o   when: April 15, 2013
o   where: Aritzia
o   how: why did it happen

Lead (Sentence)
o   gives the most important information
o   “hooks” the reader’s attention

Spelling and Grammar
o   Have I checked my spelling?
o   Have I checked my capitalization?
o   Are my tenses consistent and proper?

Point of View
o   all 3 points of view are presented
o   points of view are factual and unbiased

Check to see if your article includes all of these things to achieve a Level 3. A Level 4 achievement level goes above and beyond these expectations.
